The coping strategies employed by second-generation migrants are of great significance in migration research. Living between two cultures can pose a major challenge in terms of identity development. Differences between the values and norms brought from the country of origin and those expected in Switzerland can lead to tensions. Key influencing factors here are career progression and the presence or absence of various forms of capital. The findings of this study show how social work professionals can build a trusting relationship with migrants by taking into account their social environment and biographical background, thereby supporting them in the development of coping strategies.
