He is eventually exposed as a fraud and is forced to flee the country, leaving Lady Woodvill heartbroken.The Libertine: A Tragedy is a scathing critique of the excesses of the Restoration era and the behavior of the nobility. It is also a powerful exploration of love, lust, and betrayal.
