This volume presents a series of letters addressed to Sir William Seton, engaging with the controversies surrounding the veto and non-intrusion principles within the Church of Scotland. Penned by J. Edmond, a member of the Kirk-Session of the West Parish, Aberdeen, the letters offer a detailed perspective on the ecclesiastical debates of the time.
Focusing on the critical period leading up to the Disruption of 1843, the author explores the complexities of the Veto Act and the broader implications of non-intrusion for the governance of the Church. Addressed to a prominent figure, these letters provide valuable insights into the arguments and tensions shaping the religious landscape of 19th-century Scotland. This collection will appeal to historians and researchers interested in Scottish church history and the dynamics of religious reform.
