The Letters of Aristeas is a book edited by Rutherford H. Platt that contains a collection of letters that were purportedly written by Aristeas, a Greek philosopher, to his brother Philocrates. These letters describe Aristeas' journey to Egypt, where he was commissioned by Ptolemy II Philadelphus to translate the Hebrew scriptures into Greek. The book provides an insight into the cultural and religious context of the time, as well as the process of translation and the challenges that Aristeas faced. The Letters of Aristeas is an important historical document that sheds light on the early history of the Bible and the development of the Greek language. Platt's edition includes a detailed introduction, notes, and an index to help readers understand the context and significance of the letters.THIS 46 PAGE ARTICLE WAS EXTRACTED FROM THE BOOK: Forgotten Books of Eden, by Rutherford H.
