On the eve of World War I, the wily Sebastian Cleavor is called to the mysterious Valley, a prosperous rural community located in the heart of California's Wine Country. Sebastian hopes to make his fortune in the Valley, but he must contend with the powerful Garson family, who have farmed the land for generations.
Sebastian brings with him two daughters. The eldest, Victoria, hopes to emulate her father. But the younger daughter, Evelyn, connects with the Valley on a spiritual level. Evelyn immediately catches the attention of two younger men. There's Thomas Garson, the sweet-natured son of her father's rival. Then there's Charles Vale, a scrappy outsider with a mean streak. As the men struggle for power and legacy, Evelyn develops her gifts and learns she can influence events in her own way. One way or another, she'll have to-Prohibition lurks around the corner, and the Valley is not as stable as it seems.
