The Legend of Multnomah Falls is a book written by Susan Williamson Smith and published in 1905. The book is a retelling of the Native American legend of Multnomah Falls, a towering waterfall located in the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon, USA. The legend tells the story of a beautiful Indian princess named Multnomah, who falls in love with a young warrior from a rival tribe. Despite the opposition of their families, the two lovers elope and are pursued by Multnomah's angry father. As they reach the top of the waterfall, the young warrior is killed by Multnomah's father, and the grief-stricken princess jumps to her death. The book also includes historical information about the Columbia River Gorge and the Native American tribes that once inhabited the area. It is beautifully illustrated with black and white photographs and drawings, and is a fascinating glimpse into the folklore and history of the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
