They figgered they had left them behind. Comin' to this place where all the skies seemed brighter, all the crops grew bigger, and all the nights were quiet. Seemed a world away from all the old scaries. But, they didn't know that they'd stowed away the old world darkness in the corners of their pitiful wooden crates. The old man looked from Hank to Ernie, smiling a gap-toothed smile, the scars dancing on his cheek, along his jaw, they just weren't smart enough to know that you can't pack up yer dreams without stowin' away yer nightmares too. Aaron Geist has lain, trapped in a world of perpetual night, for nearly 160 years. He came to this innocent land as a predator, one of the last of his kind. Nosferatu. Vampyre. An unholy monster in the shape of a man. Hunted to the edge of extinction, the vampyre struggle to survive among the mountains of their homeland, so Aaron Geist and his adopted 'son' Kalman escape to the New World aboard the slave ship, De Contessa. But Geist's plan to establish a foothold for his breed in the frontier is thwarted - at a terrible cost - by a community who refuse to accept their role as prey. Now he waits, and with each passing moment his hunger and hatred grow. Ernie Lovell and Henry Bishop are planning a spelunking trip to a favorite cave beneath the rolling hills of southern Illinois. It is a trip they have made often, but this time their adventure inadvertently threatens to release an age-old horror into an unsuspecting modern world. They meet a strange old man with a scarred face who shows them a new cave, a spectacular hidden labyrinth of vast chambers and twisting passages leading deep into the Earth, where evil awaits. The Legacy of Aaron Geist is a tale of claustrophobic terror which examines the depths of friendship, the bonds of community, and the overwhelming power of hate . . . and faith. It is a pulse pounding thrill-ride as relentless as the vampire itself. In a world where the Sun never rises, how can you outrun the dark?
