What if giving wasn't just generous-but required? What if giving wasn't only about charity-but justice?
The Laws of the Tzedakah for Beginners: A Simple Guide to the Ethics of Jewish Giving strips away sentimentality and reveals the bold, unflinching truth behind one of Judaism's most powerful commandments: tzedakah. This is not a book about good intentions. It's a clear, accessible guide to a sacred obligation-a call to action that reshapes how you think about money, responsibility, and what it means to build a just world.
Inside these pages, you'll learn why tzedakah isn't optional-and why that's exactly what makes it transformative.
- Decode the eight levels of tzedakah and learn why anonymous giving ranks among the highest.
- Understand how Jewish law prioritizes recipients-from family to strangers-and why order matters.
- Learn the exact amounts Jewish tradition requires you to give-no more guessing, no vague rules.
- See how modern giving platforms like Venmo and GoFundMe measure up against ancient wisdom.
- Discover how giving with dignity can elevate both the giver and the receiver.
- Avoid common mistakes that turn good intentions into missed opportunities-or worse, unintended harm.
- Step into the long line of those who give not because they feel like it, but because it's right.
Whether you're new to Jewish life or looking to sharpen your practice, this book is your essential toolkit for giving with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
Don't just give. Give with intention. Give with wisdom. Buy the book and learn how.
