Pomponii Melae De Situ Orbis Libri Tres is a treatise on geography by Pomponius Mela, a Roman geographer who lived in the first century AD. This edition, published in 1816, presents Mela's work in its original Latin, offering readers direct access to his descriptions of the world as it was known to the Romans.
Mela's work is notable for its systematic arrangement of geographical knowledge, dividing the known world into continents and regions, and describing their climates, inhabitants, and notable features. The text provides valuable insights into Roman understanding of geography, ethnography, and natural history. This edition serves as an important resource for scholars and students of classical literature, geography, and Roman history.
