The Last Librarian of Elmswick: A Cozy Portal Fantasy

When a stranger's letter arrives on an ordinary Tuesday, Wren Sorrel's whole life is about to change - starting with the doors she never knew existed.

Newly unemployed, newly single, and running out of savings, Wren has nothing left to lose when she inherits her great-aunt's crumbling bookshop in the small town of Elmswick. What she finds is nothing like she expected: a black cat who seems to know more than he should, a charming local bookbinder guarding an impossible secret, and a shelf of unmarked books that open onto entire worlds.

Wren is the last of a hidden line of Keepers - women who have spent nearly two centuries tending magical doorways hidden inside ordinary-looking books. But her great-aunt died with one world already dying: a once-thriving kingdom called Ferrowake, drained of its life by a ruthless collector who intends to strip it bare and move on to the next unsuspecting town.

With the help of a found family of townsfolk who've kept the shop's secret for generations - and a slow-blooming romance with the one man who's loved this place from the outside for eleven long years - Wren must learn the quiet, patient magic of true Keeping before Ferrowake is lost forever.

A cozy, heartwarming portal fantasy about grief, belonging, and the courage it takes to finally let yourself stay somewhere. Perfect for fans of found-family magic, slow-burn romance, and stories where the shelves hold more than just books.
