The Last Chronicle of Barset is a novel by the British author Anthony Trollope. It was first published in 1867 and is the final book in the Chronicles of Barsetshire series. The novel tells the story of the Reverend Josiah Crawley, a poor and proud clergyman who is accused of stealing a cheque. The accusation causes a scandal in the small town of Barsetshire, and the novel follows the various characters who become involved in the case. These include the bishop of the diocese, the wealthy de Courcy family, and the Crawley family themselves. As the case unfolds, Trollope explores themes of morality, class, and social hierarchy. The Last Chronicle of Barset is considered one of Trollope's finest works, and is praised for its vivid characters, intricate plot, and social commentary. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
