In our collective trauma history, we turn to the healers to guide us, connect with us and to diminish our pain. Many of these healers are psychotherapists who use methods, theories and techniques to reduce human suffering. In this collection of poems, the author, a psychotherapist, explores the meaning of this work and how it impacts both the therapist and the client. The collection includes several themes including odes to the theorists - Lacan and Winnicott, the bond between therapist and client, transference and countertransference, and treatments including self-compassion, trauma-informed therapy, and mindfulness. This chapbook aims to reduce stigmatization of mental health through showing the healing power of psychotherapy.
