This book addresses what actually is important in practical simulation projects, in a way always trying to be clearer, simpler and more direct. In other words, using a less is more philosophy. Hence, the main target audience is newcomers in the simulation field. Nevertheless, it is highly recommended also for more experienced simulationists since it contains some issues not normally covered in classical simulation textbooks such as simulation model specification.

To enhance understanding, it also contains several exercises, link for further reading and YouTube videos.

Text content is the following: It begins with practical simulation cases studies (Chapter 1). It is not normal to begin with cases studies, but I did so to provide the reader first the applications, then the theory to develop them (like a Problem Based Learning style). Next a simulation basis is provided (Chapter 2) including fundamental concepts and important terms. Chapter 3 is dedicated to Conceptual Modelling with emphasis on conceptual model specification while Chapter 4 focus data modelling. Although not extensive and that this book is independent from any simulation software, chapter 5 provides some computational aspects of simulation and verification. Chapter 6 is dedicated to the analysis of Simulation Results. Chapter 7 is about validation, one of the hardest processes inside a simulation study and Chapter 8 makes some concluding remarks, outlining how human factors can affect simulation studies.
