What goes into building the world's best sandcastle? This is the deceptively simple question that 6-year-old Kate asks herself on a family vacation to the beach. In her serious quest to build the perfect sandcastle, she meets Cici, who oozes creativity and is willing to offer a helping hand...if Kate is willing to take it. As Kate overcomes obstacles in design and execution, she figures out how to be more empathetic and flexible. In the end, their beach adventure leads the girls to discovering the importance of collaboration, critical-thinking and friendship. Kate and Cici Build a Sandcastle is based on the real-life friendship of the author and artist. Funny and beautifully illustrated, the girls' story proves that learning how to do something new is better together.
