The Ku-Klux Klan: A Study Of The American Mind is a book written by John Moffatt Mecklin that delves into the history and psychology behind the infamous Ku Klux Klan. Mecklin examines the Klan's origins, its rise to power, and its eventual decline in the early 20th century. The book explores the Klan's motivations and beliefs, including their extreme racism, anti-Semitism, and anti-Catholicism. Mecklin also analyzes the social and political factors that allowed the Klan to gain traction in American society, including the aftermath of the Civil War, the rise of industrialization, and the fear and anxiety caused by rapid social change. Throughout the book, Mecklin argues that the Klan was not simply a fringe group of extremists, but rather a symptom of larger cultural and societal issues in America. He also provides insight into the psychological makeup of Klan members and their supporters, including their need for a sense of belonging and identity, their fear of outsiders, and their desire for power and control. Overall, The Ku-Klux Klan: A Study Of The American Mind is a comprehensive examination of one of America's most notorious hate groups, and provides valuable insights into the social and psychological factors that drive extremist movements. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
