Krilof and His Fables is a book written by W. R. S. Ralston that provides an in-depth look at Ivan Andreevich Krilof, a famous Russian fabulist. The book contains a detailed biography of Krilof, including his childhood, education, and career as a writer. It also includes a collection of his most notable fables, which are short stories that use animals as characters to teach moral lessons. Ralston's analysis of Krilof's fables explores their deeper meanings and their impact on Russian literature and culture. The book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in Russian literature, fables, or the life and work of Ivan Krilof.1869. The poems of which a literal prose translation is now offered to the English reader enjoy a popularity in Russia, which they can scarcely expect to obtain in a foreign country. Ralston has translated about half of the entire collection of Krilof's fables. He confined his efforts to the production of what he hoped was a faithful prose rendering of Krilof's poetry. This version aims at possessing something of a photograph's fidelity. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
