Welcome to The Adventures of Oscar, Kody and Cleo.
Character-led children's books intentionally designed to support Social Emotional Learning through simple, relatable stories.
Kody Takes the Plunge is a reassuring picture book about courage for toddlers and young children, helping them understand how bravery can grow slowly, one small step at a time.
At the beach, Oscar dives headfirst into the waves, full of excitement and energy. Kody watches from the sand. He wants to join in, but the water feels big and unfamiliar, and he is not sure he is ready.
With gentle encouragement from Oscar and calm guidance from Cleo, Kody learns that courage does not mean rushing or forcing yourself. It means listening to your feelings, taking your time, and trying when you feel ready. Step by step, Kody finds his confidence and discovers the joy of playing in the waves.
This story is ideal for children who feel nervous about new experiences, struggle with fear or hesitation, or need reassurance when trying something unfamiliar at home or in early learning settings.
Written for children aged 2-6, the story uses clear language and familiar situations to help young readers recognise feelings like fear, uncertainty, and pride. Social-emotional learning is introduced naturally through the characters' choices, without pressure or comparison.
Supporting Emotional LiteracyBuilding Shared Language Around Feelings
At the back of the book, a simple definition of courage is included, along with gentle discussion prompts. These help parents, carers, and educators create shared language around fear, confidence, and trying new things.
By pairing story, definition, and conversation, the book helps children understand that courage can look different for everyone and that small steps still count.
What Children Will Learn:- How thieir courage can grow slowly and at their own pace
- How to recognise and talk about feelings of fear or uncertainty
- How encouragement and support help build confidence
Ideal For:- Families supporting children through new experiences

The Inner Strength CollectionThree Furry Friends. Five Stories. A Lifetime of Inner Strength.Kody Takes the Plunge is part of the Inner Strength Collection, a five-book series intentionally designed to work together to help children grow from the inside. Helping them become caring, resilient little humans, one story at a time.
Each book focuses on one foundational social-emotional value, introduced in a way young children can understand and apply. The collection explores Patience, Courage, Honesty, Perseverance, and Taking Responsibility.
Across all five stories, children follow the same three familiar characters as they face everyday challenges and emotions together. This consistency helps children build trust in the stories, develop shared emotional language, and gradually strengthen their ability to recognise, understand, and manage their feelings.
Together, the Inner Strength Collection provides a connected emotional foundation for children aged 2-6, one story at a time.
