The Kirov Assassination is a book written by Leon Trotsky that delves into the political climate and events leading up to the assassination of Sergei Kirov, a prominent Soviet politician, in December 1934. Trotsky, a former member of the Soviet government who was exiled from the country, analyzes the circumstances surrounding Kirov's murder and argues that it was not a random act of violence, but rather a calculated move by Joseph Stalin to consolidate his power and eliminate potential threats to his leadership. The book provides a detailed examination of the political intrigue and power struggles within the Soviet government during this time period, and sheds light on the tactics used by Stalin to maintain his control over the country. Trotsky's analysis is based on his own experiences within the Soviet government and his extensive knowledge of Marxist theory and political strategy. Overall, The Kirov Assassination is a fascinating account of a pivotal moment in Soviet history and a valuable resource for anyone interested in the politics of the Soviet Union during the Stalin era. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
