The King of the Mountains is a novel written by French author Edmond About and originally published in 1860. While on a hunting trip, Servadac becomes separated from his party and finds himself stranded in a remote mountain village. There he meets a mysterious man known as the King of the Mountains, who rules over the local people with an iron fist.As Servadac becomes more involved in the affairs of the village, he begins to uncover the King's dark secrets and the true nature of his power. Along the way, he falls in love with the King's daughter, but their romance is threatened by the King's wrath and the dangers of the mountainous terrain. The King of the Mountains is a thrilling adventure story filled with action, romance, and suspense.
