This isn't a book written by someone who has life or leadership figured out.
The Kid in the Back of the Room isn't filled with revolutionary leadership theories or perfectly polished answers. It's the story of a quiet kid who grew up believing the safest place in the room was somewhere nobody would notice him-and what happened as life slowly pulled him out of that seat.
Anthony L. Young writes about poverty, bullying, loss, failure, family, second chances, leadership, and the people who changed the direction of his life simply by believing there might be more in him.
Along the way, he shares what those experiences taught him about leading people:
Dignity and accountability can coexist.
Performance doesn't always tell the whole story.
Integrity matters most when it costs something.
And sometimes the greatest thing a leader can do is give someone an opportunity to discover what they're capable of.
This isn't a story about having all the answers.
It's about figuring some of them out along the way.
And maybe, somewhere in these pages, reminding the kid sitting quietly in the back of the room that where they started doesn't have to determine where they finish.
