I highly recommend this book!- - - Anyone from 8-89 will enjoy this adventure book. Personally, I would suggest members of the same family or group read and discuss it together. This book steps back into Chinese history as the Kids (Seymour, Zoe, Mario, Dinora, and Greta)leave their summer haunt of Deer Isle, Maine to travel to southern China where they confront child trafficking, art thievery, and Zoe's grandmother. The author paints a powerful picture of the reality of the lives of children in too many places. She has cleverly invited us into their lives through the lives of some children first introduced to us in A Prince in Peril and a Jail for Justice in the Summer Island Series. The reader will find themselves swept up in this story and rooting for the children who have been taken from their mountain home. In the process elders and children make new bonds, a wonderful learning for today's young readers.
