Kant's Prolegomena and Metaphysical Foundations of Natural Science (1883) is a philosophical treatise written by the renowned German philosopher Immanuel Kant. The book is divided into two parts, with the first part serving as a preface or introduction to Kant's Critique of Pure Reason, while the second part delves into the metaphysical foundations of natural science. In the first part, Kant provides a brief overview of his critical philosophy, which seeks to determine the limits and scope of human knowledge. He argues that knowledge is limited to the realm of possible experience, and that there are certain a priori concepts and categories that are necessary for any experience to be possible at all. In the second part, Kant explores the metaphysical foundations of natural science, particularly the concepts of space, time, and causality. He argues that these concepts are not derived from experience, but rather are necessary conditions for any experience to be possible. Kant also discusses the nature of matter, the laws of motion, and the concept of force, among other topics. Overall, Kant's Prolegomena and Metaphysical Foundations of Natural Science is a seminal work in the history of philosophy and science, and continues to be studied and debated by scholars to this day. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
