Kaeso: A Tragedy of the First Century is a play written by Nathanael Hurd and first published in 1889. The play is set in ancient Rome during the reign of Emperor Nero and tells the tragic story of Kaeso, a young Roman nobleman who becomes embroiled in a political conspiracy against the emperor. Kaeso is torn between his loyalty to his family and his love for a woman who is part of the conspiracy. As the plot unfolds, Kaeso's world is turned upside down and he is forced to make difficult choices that ultimately lead to his downfall. The play explores themes of love, loyalty, betrayal, and the corrupting influence of power. It is a gripping and emotional tale of one man's struggle to do what is right in a world that is full of deceit and treachery. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
