Marie Harris was born in Kentucky. Her family moved to Maryland when she was ten. The firstborn in a family of nine children. She started writing poetry at the youthful age of ten, albeit her writing has definitely matured through the years. An avid reader, she has always had a love affair with words. She has won numerous awards for her poetry and continues to challenge herself with writing daily. Writing gives her a sense of peace and joy. She hopes with her writing she will touch her readers in a positive way. Married for 61 years to her husband, Donald. They have two beautiful daughters, a grandson, and a granddaughter. She has published four books of poetry. In addition, she has been published in numerous anthologies.
