June Junebug is a precocious little girl with a thirst for adventure and a deep love for school. One day in class, she learns that people have gifts... but she can't figure out what hers is!
June loves school. Every morning, she bounds out of bed and can't wait to sit in her class to learn something new! She can do puzzles, watch videos, and discover facts she didn't know before.
One day, her teacher reads a book about a musician playing the violin. June is astounded-she's never seen something so cool before! But... if that person can play a violin really well, what can she do well?
Her teacher assigns the class homework: think about your unique gift and share it with the class. Suddenly, June is nervous and preoccupied with her own thoughts. What is her gift? Does she even have one yet?
June talks to her family to discover their unique gifts. Her mom learns languages a lot, and her dad is great at cooking. Even her little brother pipes in, saying that his gift is Taekwondo.
So what is June's gift?
Before the day is over, June listens to some music and discovers her true gift: dancing! Relieved and excited, June can go to bed knowing what she'll share with the class tomorrow.
Full of heart, stunning illustrations, and a lesson worth reading again and again, June's Gift is a perfect early reader book for toddlers and elementary school students that describes how everyone has special gifts, and it's up to that person to discover what it is!
Author Tracy Madrigal hopes June's Gift serves as more than just a bedtime book for parents and guardians; her hope is to create a resource for early childhood teachers to use in their social-emotional lessons.
