Then there was the fact that, since I was working with her parents about their mortgage loan default, I had to make a choice: keep my job and Lucy but not work with her parents, keep my job and work with her parents but never date Lucy, or date Lucy but lose my job for good.
I did what I thought was right to keep all three, but I also knew it was only a matter of time before everyone found out the truth about everything. Maybe it was insta-love with Lucy after all, but I was on the fast track to destroying it before knowing for sure.
