A 15-piece collection of spoken word poetry on faith written entirely for poetry slam competitions by Phillip Long, creator of the Jesus Poetry Slam and founder of The Sacrificial Poet Project. This poetry is a mixed-martial metaphorical train ride for the gypsy hopeful and black ice at 90 for armchair koolaid skeptics. Fasten your seat belts! Your train of thought's about to have a wreck. According to the author: Many people are convinced that God is a fantasy, Jesus Christ a myth, religion a crutch, and Christians hypocritical, emotionally unbalanced, intellectually crippled, and a proven menace to society-I'm not quite convinced. Rather, I am convinced that God is real, quite dangerous, but good -That Jesus Christ, the man/god, permanently cheated death -That pure religion looks a lot like genuine sacrificial love -That nearly everyone I've ever met needs some kind of crutch -And that Christians are no more hypocritical, emotionally unbalanced, intellectually crippled, or menacing to society than anyone else, generally-perhaps even a bit less so. The mission of The Sacrificial Poet Project is to promote faith conversations through the art of spoken word poetry.
