There are more than 2.2 billion Christians in the world. In one form or another, each of these Christians follows the teachings of Jesus Christ as described in the Bible; however, some relevant texts aren't included in the Bible we know today.
In his new book, Francis William Bessler explores a different side of Jesus-one described in the long-lost, noncanonical gospels of Thomas and Mary.
Drawing upon these texts, Bessler presents Jesus as a down-to-earth figure who had some good ideas instead of a deity to be worshipped. Many people find fulfillment in Jesus the Lord-but is it not also useful to think of Jesus as a person so that we, as people, may better relate to his teachings and follow his example?
Building on his analysis of Thomas and Mary, Bessler shares his own thoughts and interpretations of Jesus. He highlights the importance of building a personal relationship with and an understanding of Jesus to find enrichment. Bessler also includes several original songs to express how his beliefs have enriched his own life.
