Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes: A Biography is a comprehensive account of the life and career of one of America's most influential Supreme Court justices. Written by Silas Bent, a respected legal scholar and historian, the book traces Holmes' life from his privileged upbringing in Boston to his groundbreaking legal career and his later years as a revered elder statesman. The biography delves into Holmes' personal life, including his relationships with family and friends, as well as his professional accomplishments, such as his famous dissents in landmark cases like Lochner v. New York and Abrams v. United States. The book also explores Holmes' political views and his role in shaping American jurisprudence, particularly in the areas of free speech and civil liberties. Drawing on a wealth of primary sources, including Holmes' personal correspondence and legal opinions, as well as interviews with family members and colleagues, Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes offers a fascinating portrait of one of the most important legal figures in American history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
