Founded in events that transpired upon Francisco Pizarro's conquest of Peru in 1533, Journey into the Unknown relates the history and legends surrounding an unfathomable treasure deposited within an uncharted region of the Andes known as the Llanganati Mountains in Ecuador. Through extensive research and unpublished material from numerous sources this book goes well beyond what has previously been written exposing new evidence and factual accounts of events that brings clarity to the story like never before. Your journey will begin with the capture, ransom and murder of the Inca Atahualpa. History and legend indicate that upon Atahualpa's murder enormous amounts of gold and silver treasure en route to complete his ransom was spirited into the remoteness of the Llanganati. The story reveals that a treasure deposit truly does exist, and a young Spanish soldier named Valverde was permitted to remove a minute portion of it by the guardians of the treasure in the mid-1700s. For centuries countless expeditions journeyed into the mysterious Llanganati in quest of Atahualpa's ransom treasure following clues within a guide to the deposit that Valverde provided the King of Spain. Over a century would pass before Atahualpa's treasure once again was discovered by Barth Blake and Richard Chapman, two sailors on a quest for Valverde's gold. Journey into the Unknown relates historical background and numerous versions of the Legends of Valverde and Blake & Chapman. This journey also exposes the stories of three intrepid explorers and others that followed in the footsteps of Valverde and Blake in quest of Inca gold, deciphering, clarifying and confirming the trail of clues before them. Presented posthumously through first person narratives from the characters themselves; famous British explorer Commander George Dyott, renowned Llanganati explorer Eugen Brunner and the never before told story of Llanganati explorer Richard Francis D'Orsay; your journey to the possible resting place of Atahualpa's treasure will be aided by map's from Don Atanasio Guzmán, Luciano Andrade MarÃn, Captain Erik Erskine Loch, Commander George Miller Dyott, Dr. Walther Sauer, Eugen Konrad Brunner and Barth Blake.
