Josephus Aegypti Prorex: Drama Musicum Honoribus Josephi Episcopi Augustani is a historical drama likely composed in the 18th century. The work centers on Josephus, possibly alluding to Flavius Josephus, the 1st-century Romano-Jewish historian and military leader, and is dedicated to Joseph, Bishop of Augsburg. The drama is presented as a 'Drama Musicum, ' suggesting a significant musical component, potentially resembling an early form of opera or oratorio. The historical and religious themes within the drama offer a glimpse into the cultural and intellectual landscape of its time. The text is an important artifact for scholars interested in historical dramas, music history, and religious works.
