The Jesus Model of Discipleship: Following Jesus from New Birth to Sending is a practical and biblical guide for believers, leaders, pastors, and disciple-makers who desire to recover the model of discipleship Jesus gave to His church.
Jesus did not call His followers to make church attenders. He called them to make disciples. In this book, April Farris leads readers back to the heart of the Great Commission and shows that discipleship is not a class, program, or religious activity, but a life-on-life process of helping people follow Jesus, grow in truth, heal from what has hindered them, mature in character, and eventually help others do the same.
With biblical teaching, practical wisdom, and real-life ministry experience, The Jesus Model of Discipleship walks through the full journey of disciple formation: winning people to Christ, consolidating new believers, forming Christlike character, training disciples with intention, and sending mature believers into purpose. It addresses foundational spiritual habits such as prayer, the Word, obedience, identity, belonging, healing, freedom, deliverance, servant leadership, spiritual maturity, and multiplication.
This book also speaks to the need for discipleship beyond the walls of the church. Whether in homes, small groups, Micro-Ekklesias, ministry settings, or the marketplace, discipleship must prepare believers to carry the life of Christ into everyday life. April emphasizes that mature disciples are formed through relationship, truth, prayer, correction, healing, accountability, shared life, and the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit.
Designed for personal study, small groups, leadership development, and ministry training, this book includes practical appendices and teaching tracks to help believers evaluate growth, spend time with the Father, and build intentional pathways for disciple formation.
If you desire to see believers rooted in Christ, healed, equipped, trained, and sent, The Jesus Model of Discipleship will help you return to the pattern Jesus modeled and recover a culture of disciple-making that bears lasting kingdom fruit.
