Jacob Faithful and The Mission is a novel by Captain Frederick Marryat, first published in 1834. The story follows the life of Jacob Faithful, a young man who is orphaned at a young age and becomes a sailor. The book is divided into two parts, with the first part detailing Jacob's experiences as a sailor and his rise through the ranks, as well as his romantic relationships. The second part of the book, titled The Mission, follows Jacob as he becomes involved in a mission to rescue a group of missionaries who have been taken captive by a group of pirates. The book explores themes of adventure, romance, and morality, and is considered a classic of 19th-century English literature. Captain Frederick Marryat was a British naval officer and novelist who is best known for his adventure novels, many of which were based on his own experiences at sea.1896.
