Introduction to Nuclear Physics and Chemistry is a comprehensive textbook written by Bernard George Harvey for students studying nuclear physics and chemistry. The book covers the fundamental principles of nuclear physics and chemistry, including the structure of the nucleus, nuclear reactions, and radioactivity. It also provides an overview of nuclear energy production and the uses of nuclear technology in medicine, industry, and research. The book begins with an introduction to the basic concepts of nuclear physics, including the properties of the nucleus, nuclear forces, and nuclear models. It then covers the different types of nuclear reactions, including fission, fusion, and decay, and their applications in energy production and nuclear medicine. The second part of the book focuses on nuclear chemistry, including the properties and behavior of radioactive isotopes, and their use in radiometric dating and tracer studies. It also covers the production and uses of radioisotopes in industry and research.Throughout the book, the author provides numerous illustrations, diagrams, and examples to help students understand the complex concepts of nuclear physics and chemistry. The book is suitable for undergraduate students in physics, chemistry, and engineering, as well as professionals working in the nuclear industry or related fields. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
