In Homespun is a collection of short stories written by Edith Nesbit. The book is set in the English countryside during the late 19th and early 20th centuries and explores themes of love, family, and societal expectations. The stories are told from the perspective of various characters, including a young girl who falls in love with a wealthy man, a mother who struggles to care for her children after her husband's death, and a group of villagers who come together to save their community from a greedy landowner. Through her vivid descriptions and engaging characters, Nesbit paints a picture of rural life that is both charming and poignant. The book is a testament to the enduring power of human connection and the importance of community in times of hardship. My cousin Mattie was different. She must set up to be in love, and walk home from church with Jack Halibut Sunday after Sunday, the long way round, if you please, through the meadows; and he used to buy her scent and ribbons at the fair, and send her a big valentine of lacepaper, and satin ribbons and things, though Lord knows where he got the money from--honest, I hope--for he hadn't a penny to bless himself with. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
