A scene appears in front of the camera. Captured on a tiny compact flash card, it comes to life on the computer screen -- with flaws, improper lighting and foreign objects. These elements and overall composition are addressed by the artist. An original picture may be changed by photographic editing software until a more perfect image is created. Thus the bright side is first seen by the photographer, established by the lens and sent through the digital darkroom back into light, where the artist chooses which elements to keep or change. The completed version then appears upon the printed page.
