Il Malmantile Racquistato is a 17th-century mock-heroic poem written in Tuscan dialect by Lorenzo Lippi, with postille (annotations) by Antonio Maria Biscioni, Anton Maria Salvini, and Paolo Minucci. A complex and humorous work, it represents an important example of Florentine literary tradition and a significant contribution to Italian Baroque literature. This edition presents the complete text of Lippi's poem accompanied by scholarly notes.
The poem is a cornerstone of Italian literary history, offering a unique blend of classical epic conventions and vernacular humor. Its enduring appeal lies in its witty and engaging style, its vivid portrayal of Tuscan life, and its playful exploration of language and identity.
