Sometimes we wake up on the wrong side of the bed-and that's okay.
In It's Okay to Be Grumpy, young readers follow Gus the gorilla through a grumpy day full of big feelings and gentle guidance. Whether he's upset about breakfast, struggling to tie his shoes, or feeling frustrated about bedtime, Gus learns that while it's okay to feel grumpy, there are better ways to express those strong emotions.
With the help of his calm and caring Mama, Gus discovers simple, healthy coping strategies like stretching, counting to ten, asking for help, and making plans. This heartwarming story models emotional regulation in a relatable, neurodivergent-friendly way-perfect for kids learning to navigate their big feelings.
✔️ Supports emotional intelligence
✔️ Reinforces positive behavior without shame
✔️ Great for classroom calm-down corners or bedtime reading
If your child has ever had a grumpy day (and who hasn't?), Gus will remind them they're not alone-and that every feeling is okay.
