It's a Christmas Card Christmas was inspired by Chris Anastasio, who wrote the lyrics as he sat on the back porch while on a winter visit to his girlfriend Tina's home in England. He was struck by the beautiful sunrise that Christmas day as the snow blanketed the yard before him and the sound of the church bells rang sweetly in the nearby town. He was taking in the smell of the Christmas turkey as it came wafting from the home. And while taking it all in, in his mind's eye he could see all the excited children as they awaited the yearly visit from Santa, their tree with all the gifts underneath, and the twinkling lights on every home and business in town. He couldn't wait to set the words to music. It was so important that it be just right. Chris' other song, It Will Always Be Called Christmas tells of Chris' passion to keep the Christ in Christmas. This song, It's a Christmas Card Christmas echoes his passion, but this time to keep Christmas the magical day that it is and always will be. Chris once again contacted his music writing partner, Barbara Tancredi. This beautiful melody came to life.
