L'esorcismo era una pratica che sembrava quasi dimenticata ed avvolta fra le nebbie di un passato forse frettolosamente tacciato di superstizione e ignoranza, quando negli ultimi decenni - in concomitanza con la perdita di sicurezza sociale e le ansie per un incerto futuro - essa è tornata ad affascinare la mente di molti. E' indubbio, e lo vediamo anche in questo frangente storico, come innanzi al frantumarsi delle sicurezze sociali e alle stentoree risposte delle leadership, una parte della società volga lo sguardo a quanto rimanda ad una visione alternativa, e nondimeno meno reale o irreale a seconda dei punti di vista, di quanto proposto dalle convenzioni culturali, scientifiche e morali comunemente accettate e proposte.
Ebbene fra le varie pratiche spirituali e religiose di ogni tempo e di ogni luogo, l'esorcismo rappresenta il mezzo di contrasto, la risposta attiva, dell'uomo nei confronti della prevaricazione dell'invisibile.
