BANDULARE è storia di formazione e storia d'amore. I protagonisti vivono negli anni cinquanta e sessanta l'infanzia e l'adolescenza in contesti diversi tra loro, ma attingono alle stesse radici affondate nell'isola di Sardegna, mai nominata in modo esplicito, a evocarne il mistero e l'unicità.
Sullo sfondo gli anni delle lotte operaie e studentesche, l'impegno politico, tabù e trasgressioni.
I due amano viaggiare senza programmi e aspettative, e tracciano passaggi del cuore più che paesaggi e geografie dei luoghi. Ci sono figli, malattie, lavori non scelti, fughe e magie dentro la loro storia, nulla di eccezionale, nulla che lasci a bocca aperta. Si racconta una normalità che acquista corpo nella banalità del quotidiano, nel riconoscersi a fatica parte di un'umanità in transumanza.
Alle porte della vecchiaia sono costretti a separarsi. Ma la vita chiede ancora presenza e l'abbandono delle vecchie certezze. Chiede altri posti da vivere in passaggio e il bandulare continua.
P.S. Il verbo bandulare è stato ideato partendo dal vocabolo banduleri che in lingua sarda significa vagabondo, girovago.
Nata negli anni Cinquanta, in uno dei tanti paesi sardi attraversati dai genitori in continuo trasferimento, l'autrice eredita dal padre l'anima zingara.
Viaggia cercando di riempire l'ansia del vivere e di attraversare confini fisici e mentali. Non giunge in alcun luogo, consapevole che non esistono luoghi di arrivo. Continua a emigrare, in una transumanza di ricerca senza più illusioni.
Scrive per necessità intima e non sempre le parole le danno leggerezza.
Sceglie uno pseudonimo per proporre i suoi scritti e lo fa per due motivi.
Il primo è il pudore, la paura non di esporsi, ma di sentirsi nuda davanti ai riflettori. Il secondo le sembra poetico.
Vuole chiamarsi Alice Masia.
Alice, come la bambina rimasta intrappolata in embrione dentro il suo utero ribelle e infine uscita un po' alla luce nei passi maturi e Masia, come il cognome della nonna materna, in onore di una catena di donne della sua famiglia che hanno segnato i sentieri prima di lei, anche per lei.
