Authored by the esteemed religious authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Taqi Al-Modarresi (may his shadow endure), it was conceived during one of Iraq's darkest eras. In the early 1970s, the oppressive Ba'athist regime under Saddam Hussein exerted an iron grip over the nation, ruthlessly targeting intellectual and cultural expressions tied to religion-mosques, institutions, schools, seminaries, books, newspapers, and other facets of faith. The regime's objective was to erase the nation's religious identity and sever the roots of its devout heritage.

In defiance of these harsh realities, Grand Ayatollah Al-Modarresi (may Allah prolong his life) penned this profound book to assert that Islam-as a creed, a legal framework, and a comprehensive guide to a virtuous life-surpasses all intellectual and civilizational challenges. The book also systematically dismantles both ancient and modern philosophies that lead humanity into the darkness of disbelief, atheism, and misguidance.

With avenues of intellectual and cultural expression severely restricted by the oppressive regime, the book initially circulated in handwritten copies. It quickly became a cornerstone of study in the religious seminary of the holy city of Karbala, serving as a comprehensive resource on Islamic beliefs. Students meticulously transcribed the book by hand and shared it among themselves, ensuring its teachings endured despite the harsh environment.

The book was first published in 1390 AH, carefully avoiding the scrutiny of censorship. It garnered exceptional interest within academic circles, including universities and seminaries across Iraq, Egypt, and Lebanon. The second edition followed in Beirut in 1395 AH, with the third edition published in Kuwait in 1397 AH. Subsequent editions were released in Beirut, Kuwait, and Tehran, facilitating the book's extensive dissemination throughout the Arab world and beyond.

The Imam Al-Qa'im Seminary and its affiliated branches incorporated the book into their curriculum as a foundational text on Islamic beliefs. Additionally, some colleges at the University of Baghdad adopted it for academic instruction. Translated into Persian, the book underwent multiple editions and gained notable acclaim in academic and scholarly circles in Iran and Afghanistan.

What sets this book apart is its rigorous critique and examination of ancient and modern philosophies through the lens of the Qur'an and the Sunnah. It presents Islamic beliefs in a manner that is reasoned, lucid, and deeply intuitive.
