Irish Folk History Plays: Grania, Kincora And Devorgilla is a collection of three plays written by Lady Gregory, an Irish playwright and folklorist. The plays are based on Irish folklore and history, and each tells the story of a different legendary figure from Ireland's past. The first play, Grania, is based on the story of Grinne Mhaol, a 16th-century Irish chieftain who led a rebellion against English rule. The play explores Grania's struggle to maintain her independence and protect her people from the English invaders. The second play, Kincora, tells the story of Brian Boru, the High King of Ireland who united the country and defeated the Vikings in the Battle of Clontarf. The play explores the political and personal struggles of Brian Boru as he tries to hold his kingdom together and protect it from external threats. The third play, Devorgilla, is based on the story of Diarmuid and Grinne, a tragic love story from Irish mythology. The play focuses on Devorgilla, the woman who persuades Diarmuid to elope with her and start a new life together, and the consequences of their actions.Overall, Irish Folk History Plays: Grania, Kincora And Devorgilla is a fascinating exploration of Irish folklore and history, told through the medium of drama. Lady Gregory's plays are rich in detail and character, and offer a unique insight into Ireland's past and its cultural heritage.1912. This work is the First Series.
