Irenaeus Against Heresies V3 is a book written by Irenaeus, an early Christian theologian and bishop of Lyon in the 2nd century. It is a continuation of his previous works, in which he refutes various heresies that were prevalent in his time. In this volume, Irenaeus focuses on the Gnostic heresies and their teachings, which he considers to be a serious threat to the orthodox Christian faith. He argues that the Gnostics' beliefs are fundamentally flawed and contrary to the teachings of the apostles and the scriptures. Irenaeus also provides a detailed account of the Gnostic cosmology and their understanding of the nature of God, the world, and humanity. He uses his extensive knowledge of scripture and tradition to expose the errors of the Gnostics and to defend the orthodox Christian faith. The book is an important source for understanding early Christian theology and the debates that shaped the development of the church. It follows then, as of course, that these men must either receive the rest of his narrative, or else reject these parts also. For no persons of common sense can permit them to receive some things recounted by Luke as being true, and to set others aside, as if he had not known the truth. And if indeed Marcion's followers reject these, they will then possess no Gospel; for, curtailing that according to Luke, as I have said already, they boast in having the Gospel [in what remains].This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
