Glasscock, second-class pilot, was suspended 10 days for conduct unbecoming a licensed officer in uttering statements which reflected upon the official conduct of the local inspectors at Seattle, Wash. Mr. Glasscock appealed February 9 to the supervising inspector, first district, who, on March 20, ruled that the local board erred in suspending the license of Glasscock as second-class pilot, for the offense charged, under authority of section 4439, Revised Statutes, he not being a licensed master. February 9.--While the steamer Reliance was making a landing at Tacoma, Wash., A. Schuier, a deck hand, fell overboard. life line was thrown to him, but he failed to get hold of it. A boat was then lowered, but he sunk before they could reach him, and he did not again return to the surface. February 10.--While attempting to pass between Duncan Rock and Tatoosh Island, on an ebb tide, the steamship Spokane struck bottom.
