This book presents a methodology for quantitative measurements and analysis of Internet networks. Factors such as modeling and simulation for network performance can be observed and better understood by the reader. The author also presents specific software used for these analyses and measurements. The book consists of two articles. The first article introduces the reader to the development of a new Quantitative Analytical Methodology for measuring Internet Networks, based on Queueing Theory, Statistical Methods and Modeling, with Simulation in ARENA(R) software. The results demonstrate the validity of the methodology developed for the UFSCar Internet Network. The second article presents the application of this methodology to the Internet network of the Faculdade de Tecnologia de Americana (FATEC - CEETEPS). Despite the major differences between the university networks at UFSCar and FATEC, the proposed methodology proved to be perfectly applicable, and its use can be extended to any other educational institution or company, public or private. This makes this book indispensable reading for Internet network managers, analysts and researchers.
