Inez: A Tale Of The Alamo is a historical novel written by Augusta Jane Evans and first published in 1864. The story is set during the Texas Revolution and focuses on the events leading up to the Battle of the Alamo. The protagonist, Inez Cansino, is a Mexican-American woman who is torn between her loyalty to her Mexican heritage and her love for an American soldier, Walter Hazard. As the revolution unfolds, Inez finds herself caught in the middle of the conflict and must make difficult choices that will ultimately determine her fate. The novel is a dramatization of real-life events and features historical figures such as William Barret Travis, Davy Crockett, and James Bowie. Through Inez's story, Evans explores themes of love, loyalty, and patriotism in the face of war and political upheaval. The novel has been praised for its vivid depiction of the Alamo and its historical accuracy, as well as its portrayal of a strong and independent female protagonist. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
