In The War With Mexico: A Midshipman's Adventures On Ship And Shore is a historical novel written by Cyrus Townsend Brady and published in 1903. The book is set during the Mexican-American War, which took place between 1846 and 1848. The story follows the adventures of a young midshipman named Jack Somers, who is stationed on board the USS Somers, a ship that is part of the American naval fleet sent to blockade the Mexican coast. As the war progresses, Jack finds himself caught up in a series of dangerous and exciting adventures, both on board ship and on land. He experiences the thrill of naval battles, the terror of storms at sea, and the challenges of navigating unfamiliar waters. He also becomes involved in a number of daring missions on land, where he must use his wits and courage to outsmart the enemy and complete his objectives.Throughout the book, Brady provides detailed descriptions of life on board ship and the workings of the American naval fleet during the war. He also explores the political and social context of the conflict, including the tensions between the United States and Mexico, and the debates over the morality and necessity of the war.Overall, In The War With Mexico: A Midshipman's Adventures On Ship And Shore is a thrilling and informative historical novel that offers a vivid portrayal of life during one of America's most important military conflicts. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
