In The Spirit Of Saint Francis: Conferences For Franciscans is a book written by Theodosius Foley that delves into the teachings and values of Saint Francis of Assisi. The book is a collection of conferences given by Foley to Franciscan communities, with the aim of helping them deepen their understanding of the Franciscan way of life. The book is divided into three parts, each focusing on a different aspect of Saint Francis' teachings. The first part explores the theme of poverty, which was central to Saint Francis' life and teachings. Foley discusses how poverty is not just a lack of material possessions, but a way of living in complete dependence on God.The second part of the book focuses on the theme of prayer, which was also important to Saint Francis. Foley explores the different types of prayer that Saint Francis practiced, and how they can be applied to the lives of modern-day Franciscans. The final part of the book explores the theme of community, which was also central to Saint Francis' teachings. Foley discusses how Franciscans can live in community in a way that reflects the values of Saint Francis, such as humility, simplicity, and service.Overall, In The Spirit Of Saint Francis: Conferences For Franciscans is a valuable resource for anyone interested in learning more about the teachings and values of Saint Francis of Assisi, and how they can be applied to modern-day life. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
