In Scarlet And Silk: Or Recollections Of Hunting And Steeplechase Riding (1896) is a memoir written by Fox Russell. The book takes the reader on a journey through the author's experiences as a hunter and steeplechase rider in the late 19th century. Russell provides vivid descriptions of the thrill of the chase, the camaraderie among fellow riders, and the beauty of the countryside. The book also offers a glimpse into the social hierarchy of the time, as Russell recounts his interactions with aristocrats and other members of high society. Through his stories, Russell captures the excitement and danger of these equestrian sports, as well as the deep love and respect he had for his horses. In Scarlet And Silk is a fascinating glimpse into a bygone era, and a must-read for anyone interested in the history of hunting and horse racing. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
